Loz, where our community blossoms like almonds

About

LOZ isn’t just a name.

In Arabic, it means almond. We chose it because in Syria, almond trees bloom early, bright white blossoms opening in January, defying the cold.

That spirit of blooming even when the season isn’t right is what inspired us.

I’m Liana Dahdouh, a journalist, and my mom Rania is a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

We left Syria during the war and moved to Berlin, where we chose not just to survive, but to adapt, to grow… to bloom like almond blossoms in winter.

That’s how LOZ was born.

A cozy, welcoming space we built as a home for community. A place to gather, share homemade food, and listen to music from all over the world.

A space for people who carry stories, who dream, who long for connection—and who believe in starting again.
